How It Works (K-8)
The CVCS K-8 Program
The Chicago Virtual Charter School is a tuition-free public charter school that uses the K12 curriculum, which is accessed via an online school as well as through more traditional methods. Materials are delivered right to the family's doorstep—including books, videos, and even bags of rocks and dirt.
We also partner parents and students with a state-certified teacher to guide and track their progress through the curriculum. There are regular, face-to-face meetings as well.
Once a week, students attend the CVCS facility to socialize with other students and have the chance to meet face-to-face with a teacher who can help work through any learning issues.
Who is this intended for?
The Chicago Virtual Charter School's K–8 program serves students in grades K–8 who reside within Chicago city limits.
What are the costs?
Because we are part of the Chicago public school system, the Chicago Virtual Charter School is tuition-free. The entire K12 curriculum is provided free of charge, as well as a loaner computer, printer, and Internet stipend.
